Hydroponics Grand Rapids Lettuce in Hot Climate of Kuala Lumpur

Thinking of planting lettuce in a climate as hot as desert and humid stale air without wind, its like in a sauna. So the respond is naturally impossible.

But with some modifications to culturing technique and choosing the appropriate variety could make a difference.

The following are my lettuces planted  outdoor with hydroponics. No soil, no dirt, no heavy pot. Fresh Grand Rapids lettuce growing in Kuala Lumpur 'sauna' climate.

The picture above shows intensive cultivation which is due to lack of space. So the lettuces grow taller as it stretches for sunlight and space.

The picture below shows the harvested Grand Rapids lettuces.

Alternatively it can also be planted in a small cup as shown in the picture below. This gives sufficient space and light for it to develop without intraspecific competition.

The picture above shows the roots just float in the water containing mineral nutrients.

The picture below shows the update of the cup grown lettuce after a week.

The following picture shows the same cup of lettuce after 10 days.
