Grand Rapid Lettuce In One Litre Food Container

This variety has black coloured seeds. It has light green frilly edges leaves and very crunchy and flavourful.

The plant looks awesome and thrives under the hot sun of Kuala Lumpur. But it must be protected from heavy rain using a transparent PVC supported with bamboo sticks.

The photo above is my Grand Rapid lettuce in a one litre food container. The container has to be wrapped with paper to prevent algae from growing in the nutrient solution.

Don't hesitate to plant hydroponic Grand Rapid lettuce in Kuala Lumpur hot humid equatorial tropical climate. Remember to build a transparent PVC roof for it. Without this PVC roof, lettuce cannot grow outdoor because the heavy rain and storm can damage it. It can tolerate direct sunlight and intense heat although wilting in the midday is inevitable. The plant will recover after that. It needs the intense light to grow strong in shape and develop flavour.

Plant it today.

Update on my Grand Rapids lettuces.

This lettuce is planted on the wall under whole day of direct sunlight in a hot humid equatorial tropical climate.

This lettuce is planted inside a polystyrene cup. The paper is wrapped around the cup to prevent algae growth.
