Water Convolvulus (Ipomoea aquatica)

Water convolvulus is an asian vegetable known as kangkung in Malaysia and Singapore. It is eaten with prawn mee, stir fry with garlic or sambal belacan. It grows easily in Hydroponics Cultivation.

This plant is cultivated in Hydroponics Mineral using stem cutting available after harvesting the leaves for cooking.  It grows pretty fast, just a few days already a bunch of leaves.

Just put the stem into the Hydroponics Mineral Water, it will automatically float and generates root that grows into the water. The leaf buds naturally grow out of water to form bunch of edible leaves.

The news paper is used as temporary measures to prevent sunlight from burning the roots before it could grow into the water.

When the roots has grown sufficiently into the water, the news paper can be removed to allows more leaf buds to burst into new growth of leaves.
